Ride in support of Rotary Flames House, a place of solace and comfort for families and children with complex, life-threatening illness. Registration starts at 9:30 AM. Kickstands up at 10:30. Ride starts at Calgary Harley-Davidson and ends at Grey Eagle Resort and Casino. The approximately 350 KM ride will leave Calgary and travel west along the TransCanada Highwaythen turn south onto Highway 40 near Morley Alta and into the world-famous Rocky Mountains and Kananaskis Provincial Park. We’ll ride by Mt Nakiska, home of the 1988 Olympic Downhill Skiing events, and then continue up and over the Highwood Pass, Canada’s highest paved highway at around 2200 meters or 7200 feet. Our descent will take us back into spectacular foothills country and terrific ranch lands hooking up with the Cowboy Trail at the town of Longview. From here we head back north towards Calgaryand through the sister towns of Black Diamond and Turner Valley. Black Diamond was known for its high grade coal found in the area in the early 1900’s. Turner Valley is famous for being the first conventional oil discovery in Western Canadain 1914 and the first natural gas processing facility that followed. From here we wind back through the foothills to Calgaryarriving at the Grey Eagle Resort and Casino in time to take in the evening events of the Rally in the Rockies.
